Abstract

A metal-coordinated α-helical peptide monolayer shows exceptional vectorial electron transfer. It also displays rectification behavior whereby an alternating current signal is successfully turned into a direct current signal by the mono­layer acting as an electric rectifier. The monolayer can simply be fabricated the piezoelectric field generated from an in-situ nanogenerator, which opens up a wide range of applications.
