Abstract

Five new metabolites including four β-resorcylic macrolides 1–4 and one octahydronaphthalene derivative 5 were isolated from a seagrass-derived fungusFusarium sp. PSU-ES123 together with seven known compounds. Their structures were characterized by analysis of the spectroscopic data. The absolute configuration was determined by Mosher's method and circular dichroism spectroscopy. Compound 1displayed weak antifungal activity against Cryptococcus neoformans with an MIC value of 128 μg/mL and no cytotoxic activity against noncancerous Vero cell lines. In addition, known zearalenone displayed a protective activity against INS-1 832/13 pancreatic β-cells by an EC50 value of 6.09 μM and was noncytotoxic to Vero cells.
