Abstract

A new N-acyl-salicylhydrazide ligand, N,N’-bis(2-salicyloyl)-3,6-pyridazinedicarboxylic acid dihydrazide (H6L), was designed and synthesized. The reactions of H6L with CoSO4·7H2O, NiSO4·6H2O, Zn(OAc)2·2H2O and Cd(OAc)2·2H2O under solvothermal condition led to four different polynuclear transition metal complexes with interesting sructures, a shuttle-shaped decanuclear cobalt complex {[CoII4CoIII4(H2L)4(SO4)(Py)12][CoII2(H4L)(SO4)2]}·4DMF (1), a tetranuclear nickel complex [Ni4(L)(CH3OH)2(SO4)(Py)8]·CH3OH (2), a homochiral tetranuclear zinc complex [Zn4(L)(OAc)2(Py)6]·DMF (3) and a dinuclear cadmium complex [Cd2(H4L)(OAc)2(Him)2(H2O)]·DMF (4). Magnetic property analyses of 1 and 2 revealed the presence of anti-ferromagnetic coupling. The homochirality of the bulk sample of 3 was confirmed by the small flack parameters of −0.02(2), a positive Cotton effect in circular dichroism (CD) spectrum and X-Ray powder diffraction (XRPD) patterns.
