Abstract

A new lactone, 5R-methyl-3-heptatriacontyl-2(5H)-furanone (1), was isolated from the twigs of Cinnamomum cassia. The structure of the new compound was established on the basis of high-resolution MS, 1D and 2D NMR data. The absolute configuration was determined by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) analysis.
