Abstract
In view of designing and synthesis of luminescent hybrid material, lanthanide complexes were incorporated in silica and PMMA matrix. The synthesized complex 1 and 2 and their hybrids were synthesized and characterized. The obtained data from spectroscopic results reveal the successful formation of complexes and their respective hybrids. The carefully studied luminescent properties of complexes 1 and 2 hints towards the improved photoluminesent properties of hybrids over complexes 1 and 2 in terms of luminescent intensity, excited state lifetime and quantum efficiencies. The substantial decrease in non-radiative decays in complex 1–silica hybrid authenticates the enhanced photoluminescent behavior. Judd-Ofelt values calculated for complex 1 and its hybrids genuinely supports to increased departure from symmetry of coordination environment around the Eu3+ ion which invokes polarizability effect during the formation of hybrid material, as compared to pure complex. Furthermore, the thin films derived by incorporating complex 1 and 2 in organic polymer PMMA and are showing their characteristics emission as bright red and green respectively. Such photoluminescent hybrids are expected to use as spectroscopic probe, fluorescent material for designing light conversion devices.
