Abstract

A family of optically active helical vinyl polymers bearing N-heterocycle substituted BINOL derivatives was synthesized by free radical polymerization. Their structures were characterized by1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The specific optical rotation of the obtained polymers changed tremendously compared with the corresponding monomers. Circular dichroism spectroscopic data showed that the obtained polymers can maintain the prevailing helicity of the backbone in solution.
