The V-730 UV-visible spectrophotometer is designed to be simple to use with precise results, with 1nm spectral bandwidth for high resolution and a linear dynamic range of over 3 AU across the entire spectrum.
A double-beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer splits the light source into two simultaneous beams: one through the sample, one through a reference. Absorbance is measured continuously against the reference, rather than requiring a separate blank run, giving the V-730 real-time baseline stability across long or repeated measurement sequences (0.0004 Abs/hour, measured after a one-hour warm-up at stable room temperature). Common applications include DNA and protein concentration (A260/A280), reaction kinetics, thermal melt analysis, color and turbidity testing, and routine QA/QC across pharmaceutical, industrial, and teaching laboratories.

Innovative features include IQ Accessory automatic recognition and IQ Start for push-button operation of routine measurements. The V-730 covers a wavelength range of 190 to 1,100 nm with a fixed spectral bandwidth of 1.0 nm, supporting nucleic acid and protein quantitation, colorimetric assays, and materials QA/QC across the full range. Spectra Manager™ Suite*, the latest innovative, cross-platform spectroscopy software, or the iRM, a handheld controller with a color LCD touch screen, both provide full system control and advanced data processing.

The V-730 is compact with dimensions of only 441 (W) x 468 (D) x 216 (H) mm.
Both Spectra Manager™ and the iRM provide an intuitive interface allowing first-time users to operate the instrument with ease.
High-throughput optics and fast-response detectors allow the V-730 to scan at speeds of 10 to 8,000 nm/min without wavelength tracking errors, with a monochromator slew speed of up to 24,000 nm/min between measurement points. At maximum scan speed, a full 190 to 1,100 nm scan completes in approximately 7 seconds; a common QC range such as 350 to 900 nm completes in approximately 4 seconds, fast enough for routine dye verification, raw material identification, and time-sensitive reaction monitoring.
The V-730 does not rely on an instant-on xenon flash source. Illumination is provided by a halogen lamp for the visible range and a deuterium lamp for the UV range, with automatic switchover between 330 and 350 nm, delivering stable, low-noise illumination for accurate, repeatable measurements after a brief warm-up period.

Teaching and multi-user labs: An intuitive interface, either through a PC with Spectra Manager™ Suite or standalone through the iRM color touchscreen controller, combined with IQ Accessory automatic recognition and fast scanning, helps new users get accurate results quickly in shared, high-turnover lab environments.
High-throughput and standalone QC: Optional 6-position Peltier cell changers (PSC-763, air-cooled, or NCP-705/706, water-thermostatted) and sippers enable rapid batch analysis without a dedicated PC, supporting routine QC workflows that run unattended.
The V-730 supports micro-volume sampling through an optional capillary adapter (minimum sample volume 3 µL), suited to nucleic acid and protein quantitation in bio and teaching labs. An optional temperature sensor accessory is available for monitoring sample temperature during the run.
The V-730 includes user-selectable validation to USP, EP, and JP (or manually editable), with optional IQ/OQ instrument qualification. For regulated environments, the optional Spectra Manager™ CFR software module supports 21 CFR Part 11 workflows, including:
The V-730’s standard programs include an Abs/%T meter, quantitative analysis, spectrum measurement, fixed-wavelength measurement, time course measurement (including two-wavelength time course), plus built-in validation and daily maintenance routines, all run through Spectra Manager™ Suite or the iRM controller. Dedicated bio-method templates for protein and nucleic acid quantitation and thermal melt analysis are available on the V-730BIO configuration, or on the standard V-730 with the optional micro-volume capillary adapter.
The V-730 can be controlled either way: through a PC running Spectra Manager™ Suite software, or standalone through the iRM handheld controller’s color LCD touchscreen. Both provide full instrument control and data processing.
